This was taken about a year ago, the first & last time we actually met.  He looked strikingly like my best friend Shawn.
Spent every day since we met again on Saturday together.  He asked me for a real date this coming Saturday.  Less than a week & I already like this metal boy far more than I should.  This does not happen to me, I never like anybody.  What the hell is going on?

My bestie.

My bestie.

Matt, myself, Josh, Rachel.
Got a date with the boy on the left tonight.  Just like last night.  And the night before.  Heart’s kinda racing a lot this weekend.

My grandfather & his niece were in a brutal car accident, literally half-run over by a semi in his Buick.  His injuries were minor, & he was in the hospital bed telling dirty jokes to the nurses when I went to visit him.  The first thing he said to me was to make sure to try & get the bag of pens he had saved for me out of the trunk of the wrecked car.
80+ years old & he is a HOSS.

This famous stunt in the movie was actually built around what went wrong with the original stunt. Keaton intended to leap from one building onto the roof of another building, but he fell short, smashing into the brick wall and falling into a net off-screen. He was injured badly enough to be laid up for three days. But when he saw the film (his camera operators were instructed to always keep filming, no matter what happened), he not only kept the mishap, he built on it, adding the fall through three awnings, the loose downspout that propels him into the firehouse, and the slide down the fire pole. (The Three Ages - 1923)

Oh Johnny Zander, why are you so attractive?  I look forward to more dreams about you.

Yesterday was the best day I’ve had in what seems like too long.  I gave Joe his birthday present, special edition of A Bout De Souffle, with a watercolor of mine tucked away inside.  We walked around Des Moines for awhile, enjoying the nice weather, & we ended up going out for a feast of Indian cuisine, stuffing ourselves with four different kinds of naan, chicken vindaloo & curry, among other insanely delicious foods.  Then to bookstore, each of us picking up a ton of things we couldn’t seem to walk away from, & ending up going shopping for comic books, Joe making an honest effort to find something in that realm that he can enjoy.  I let him borrow my copy of Terry Moore’s  Ghostworld & Adrien Tomine’s Sketchbook, those seemed more his style than the busty pin-up girl villains & bulging-biceped superheros that I love myself.

Plans to hang out on Thursday when we both have the day off.  I hope it ends up being more of the same, quiet days & just us, everything peaceful & indulgent & calm.  He won’t be here much longer, I will take these afternoons while I can.
